Dr. Cheryl Morris
Dr. Cheryl Morris has over 15 years of comparative animal nutrition experience.  She obtained her B.S. in Human Nutrition from the University of New Mexico, her M.S. in Animal Science (Ruminant Nutrition) from Iowa State University and her PhD in Nutritional Sciences (Canine Nutrition) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  She has overseen the nutrition of the animals managed at one of the Nation's largest zoological institutions since 2005. 

In addition she also manages the zoo's animal training and environmental enrichment programs. Her research focus has specialized in carnivore nutrition, particularly raw meat diet formulations for domestic and exotic carnivores. Cheryl's nutrition research efforts have been published in peer reviewed journals including the Journal of Nutrition, the British Journal of Nutrition, Zoo Biology, and the Journal of Animal Science.

Cheryl has competed in the sport of agility with her Toy Fox Terriers and Border Collie since 2006. Her diverse background with multiple species along with her understanding of animal competition, gives her the unique ability to incorporate science, natural history, behavior, and practicality into optimal animal diets and enrichment plans.
