2 Week Techniques: Conquer Threadles! :: Diane Goodspeed

Need help threadling your dog through gaps between obstacles? Conquer threadles forever! Learn how to train and handle threadles easily and efficiently with your dog!

The threadle is becoming a very popular challenge on AKC Premier courses as well as USDAA courses! This 2-week course is designed to teach your dog how to move through a threadle and to teach you how to handle the lines into and out of the threadle. Get rid of the fear! With some basic skill sets and a little understanding of when to control and when to release, you and your dog will master threadles once and for all!

Course Structure, Requirements & Equipment

Categories: Handling, Foundation, Puppy, Problem Solving

Level: Open to All

Course Length:

2 weeks (information/classroom available in read-only mode for 6 months after completion of course)

Course Structure:

  • This is a 2 week course that will teach you how to train and handle threadles. We’ll start both weeks with a short description of the week’s goal, the skill being built, and then the actual drill layouts and activities. Many of the drills have a progression/variation chart to challenge you and your dog! We will focus first on the basic cues and skills needed by your dog to handle threadle lines and then we will put those skills to work on some short sequences. In the video reviews, I will work with you to get consistent body, hand and verbal commands so your dog completely understands what to do! In order to reduce wear-and-tear on your dog’s body and to allow the handler to do multiple sessions per day when training, we will begin with low jumps/bars on the ground and will then work up to full height in the sequences.

Equipment needed:

  • 4-5 jumps, tunnel

Space needed:

  • minimum 40’ x 40’

Office Hours:

Yes, TBD
