In this class Amanda will be going over all of her Directional Cues and how she teaches her dogs confidence to perform them at a distance.

Does your dog struggle with turns at a distance? Want to smooth out your body language cues for turns and crosses? In this class Amanda will be going over all of her Directional Cues and how she teaches her dogs confidence to perform them at a distance.

In this class Amanda will be discussing how she teaches her directional cues, Out, Here, Switch, Tight, and Back. She will cover the foundation of these cues and then move forward on how to start achieving distance with your directional cues. She will discuss how to build your dog’s confidence with directionals at a distance, and how to make you handling cues consistent and clear to the dog.

Course Structure:

  • Amanda will be covering how she teaches all of her directionals and how she builds confidence in her dog to perform those directionals at a distance. Students will learn how to cue their dog for a turn and how to start increasing distance between themselves and their dog. Students will also be learning how to adjust the cues for their dogs to create a handling system that is unique to each student and dog. At the end of the class, students will work on distance and directional drills to fine tune their directional skills, while continuing to increase distance.

Equipment needed:

  • (working participants only): 3-4 Road cones or barrels , 5-6 jumps or hoops, 1 Tunnel

Type of participation:

  • Working (posts responses to written assignments, posts videos of sequences, gets instructor feedback to all of these as well as answers to any questions posted, can actively participate in forum, chat and office) Limit: 15
  • Auditing (can view and read all videos/assignments/posts from instructor and working students, will get instructor answers to course-specific questions posted, can actively participate in class forum, chat and office hours) Limit: Unlimited
  • Observing (can view and read all videos/assignments/posts from instructor and working students in documents, links, forum and chat but do not participate in class forum, chat and office hours other than to read instructor, worker and auditor posts). Limit: Unlimited
