In agility, a solid, driven stay can really help us build speed and focus in our canine partners, while allowing us to get ahead to show them where to go on course. Plus, stays are important elements of contacts and tables! In obedience and Rally, a stay is a required behavior in a variety of exercises at every level! And, in everyday life, a stay is an important life skill to help the dog be a great pet and companion. This class features a variety of positive games designed to train amazing, reliable stays and driven, focused releases for agility, obedience and rally (long sits and downs, drop on recall, stays for driven recalls and any obedience and rally exercises). We will also be problem solving and trouble shooting for dogs and handlers who are struggling with stays.

Want to Stay- Ready to Go makes training stay behaviors and control positions into a game that you and your dog will love! These motivational games will build your dog’s drive to move into position, hold position, and release with precision and passion. Learn how to get teach and proof amazing stay behaviors without using corrections – and by making ‘stay’ an incredibly fun game! This class will cover all aspects of stay behaviors in any dog sport, including but not limited to agility, rally and obedience.

  • Brief written lectures and progressive work to be videotaped for feedback.
  • Questions answered and feedback on each assignment from instructor in the class forum.
  • Discussion with other students (working and auditing) in the Class Forum as well as access to the general AU
    forums.

  • Working (posts responses to written assignments, posts videos of sequences, gets instructor feedback to all of these as well as answers to any questions posted, can actively participate in forum, chat and office) Limit: 15
  • Auditing (can view and read all videos/assignments/posts from instructor and working students, will get instructor answers to course-specific questions posted, can actively participate in class forum, chat and office hours) Limit: 50
  • Observing (can view and read all videos/assignments/posts from instructor and working students in documents, links, forum and chat but do not participate in class forum, chat and office hours other than to read instructor, worker and auditor posts). Limit: Unlimited
